Conference description and goals
The 29th Annual Minnesota Geriatric Care Conference is designed to update
clinical knowledge and skills of those who care for older adults in a variety
of settings, including the community, hospitals, long-term care, offices, and
others. Themes to be addressed are chronic illness, innovations in care for
the elderly, and maintaining independence along the continuum of care. A
symposium on chronic neurological diseases will open the conference.
Needs of the caregiver will be addressed with presentations by caregivers.
The goals of the conference are to:
• Disseminate recommendations on care for the elderly population who
have neurological diseases.
• Address innovative interventions for care of the elderly.
• Discuss pharmacological interventions and interactions in the elderly.
Intended audience
This conference is designed for healthcare professionals who care for
geriatric patients in acute, long term, and home care settings including
registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, nursing home
administrators, and nurse practitioners.
Date and location
This program will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Mayo Civic Center,
30 Civic Center Drive SE, Rochester, Minnesota.
