Conference description and goals

The 2012 Perinatal Nursing Conference offers information for nurses caring for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings related to at-risk pregnancies.  Conference highlights include nutrition issues for high-risk pregnancies, anesthesia complications of obesity, and care of pregnant women post-bariatric surgery.  Updates for the sixth edition of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program will be addressed.  Current clinical information is offered to assist nurses providing care for pregnant women and their families across the continuum of care.  Accomplished faculty will provide insight for all nurses, novice to expert.

The goals of the conference are to:

  • Identify nutritional issues related to the care of women with at-risk pregnancies.
  • Explain anesthetic complications related to obesity during labor and delivery, including morbidity and mortality.
  • Review current practices and therapies related to reproductive endocrinology.
  • Provide evidence to guide care of patients with at-risk pregnancies.

Intended audience

The program is designed for nurses, social workers, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals who care for pregnant women, newborns, premature and sick infants, and their families.
